Ginger Labs pioneered the concept of digital paper when it released Notability in 2010 alongside the first iPad. 14 years later, we are developing the next generation of digital paper, enabling live collaboration on all digital platforms, improving the productivity of people in all walks of life. This new chapter of Notability unlocks new audiences, richer functionality, and expands our addressable market by billions.

As a Senior Motion Designer, you will be a visual storyteller who brings Notability’s brand and message to life using motion graphics, animation, and graphic design. You will report to the Director of Design and collaborate closely with Marketing leaders to create impactful media that drives engagement and inspires.

This role is hybrid, 2+ days per week in the San Francisco office, and other days from home.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create videos utilizing motion graphics paired with screen recordings and live usage video, for marketing, onboarding, and education campaigns.
  • Iterate through static and motion designs for rapid marketing campaign tests. Work closely with Marketing to optimize the designs based on performance and insights geared around user acquisition.
  • Be a significant part of our brand’s overall art and creative direction, in collaboration with the team’s visual design leaders. Develop new ideas for marketing designs, concepts for social campaigns.
  • Evolve and champion how the Notability brand expresses itself through motion and visual design. Further develop existing guidelines, create new systems, and work on processes to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Identify areas in our marketing, brand, or elsewhere to improve. Take initiative in seeking out opportunities to make an impact past immediate responsibilities.

What You Need:

  • 5+ years of experience designing motion graphics for marketing application across different platforms and mediums.
  • A dynamic portfolio showcasing imaginative motion graphics and strong graphic design skills. We need an eye for detail and compelling storytelling.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills — you’ll be collaborating and reviewing work frequently.
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts, present storyboards, and convey design rationale.
  • Experience working independently, iterating quickly, and driving multiple projects at a time.
  • Bonus points: videography experience, ability to set up and shoot videos.
